There is a lot of confusion with relation to traffic and Alexa ranks. At times low traffic sites are ranked better than the high traffic sites. In other cases, the ranking goes down within hours too. It looks like Alexa takes more feedback from the toolbars for analysing the ranking. Mostly these tool bars are installed by webmasters and very rarely by normal public. So a new site whose webmasters are busy using it daily will naturally tend to get higher ranking with toolbar installed, than a higher traffic site where the webmaster might be settled and may not do a every day every hour work

I had tried all the points you mentioned in the blog except going pro with alexa. Google analytics data for past 3 months show steady increase in traffic and page views. But my Alexa rank in india is showing negative growth. Why there is disparity between Google and Alexa . Is there any other way to notify alexa about the traffic other than via Alexa toolbar ?
It Only means That You are getting Less Visitors From India Or You can Also Say That The Visitors COming on your SIte From India Are Common people who don’t have Alexa Toolbar Installed.

the alexa toolbar really works but not sure about the alexa widgets. Actually without installing widget my alexa ranking was improving nicely but after i install the widget my ranking is fluctuating.

Will try to follow your advises, because my “best result” is about 900k rank and I want to improve this. The content is unique and written with some stable frequency and there are some ways to increase alexa that I have never used before. So, it’s a best experience to check the effectiveness of these methods.
900k Is Too high you can come in 100k alexa rank very easily.Matter is all of traffic and backlinks.many sites get traffic but not make relevant backlinks so their alexa rank stays Poor.Btw Best of Luck.
Well, my old blog had only 50 backlinks which are indexed by Alexa. Now I’m changed the platform to WordPress and will work on Alexa’s growth.
